Openings in My Online Weekly Process Group
Thursdays, 11:30am-12:45pm PST
This Interpersonal/Psychodynamic group is open to Adults of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and racial, cultural and ethnic backgrounds. The group will be meeting weekly for 75 minutes online (using Zoom), allowing for easier access and consistency to engage in self-reflective work on a range of subjects including issues from childhood, experiences of loss, trauma, ongoing relationship concerns, career choices, existential issues, and more. Group can be healing and affirming and is a highly effective form of treatment that provides a space for meaningful contact with others in order to address personal, relational, and societal issues.
Group therapy can be a more affordable way to access regular ongoing therapy support. Group sessions can range anywhere from one half to one quarter the cost of an individual therapy session. Each weekly session is 75 minutes, (compared to the typical 45 minute individual therapy session), where there is not only access to a therapist but also to a group of people all working on bettering themselves together.
Group therapy is different from support and self-help groups in that it not only helps people cope with their problems but also provides opportunities for change and growth through direct interpersonal exchanges among group members. Unresolved issues from our childhood often affect our current relationships. Group is a place where these issues can be experienced and worked through. The directness of communicating honestly or setting boundaries with others can feel challenging, even scary at times. Group can provide a safer space where there are direct opportunities and encouragement to test out new language, feelings, and ideas. This process can improve self-confidence, help create a greater sense of belonging, instill hope, and decrease feelings of isolation.
If you would like to learn more about the benefits of Group therapy or have any other questions just call 818.979.0170 or email me.
I provide individual and group supervision and consultation nationally for both new and seasoned clinicians in areas of Art Therapy and Group Psychotherapy.
Art Therapy Supervision & Consultation Group
This is a group for art therapists who are seeking supervision hours needed for ATR (Registered Art Therapist) certification, stipulated by the Art Therapy Credentialing Board (ATCB). This group is also appropriate for those who are already registered art therapists seeking general consultation on art therapy work with clients in a personally-oriented way. Each session includes sharing of client artwork, processing professional and personal experiences and feelings, discussion of relevant issues to art therapy work (including legal and ethical), and personal art-making.
